I went to Sunday School, as a little girl, at my small town’s local Baptist Church. I learned and sang about God, in a little girl’s way; innocent and delighted at the stories of a wonderful Man named Jesus. As a teenager I attended that same Baptist Church, now as an “adult.” I was attentive, for the most part, though I have to admit my eyelids sometimes got heavy during some of the longer sermons. I still remember the words of Matthew 11:28, (KJV), painted high on the wall next to the pulpit: “Come unto Me all ye who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Those words are still emblazoned on my heart and mind, even all these many years later. Last night my husband, Arthur, and I went for a walk on the beach. It was quite cool and there was a breeze, but the magnificent sunset kept our attention upward and not on our bodies. My belly fills with butterflies as I sing praises to our Savior, Jesus Christ. The largeness of Him breaks through any boundaries I have imposed upon myself.
Sometimes my fire is a timid little flame, sputtering in the breeze of the day. It explodes to its flash point when I allow my heart a free run with praise. For I do praise You, Jesus!
You are mighty and strong and powerful in Your gentleness and Your sweet, fragrant love. Thank You, Jesus, thank You!
I rest safely in Your arms and praise You with my heart, my soul, and my voice…Praise God! Hallelujah! Amen, Lord, amen! Yes, praise Jesus!
