Salvation, or, being “saved” does not happen simply because you go to church, or read the Bible, or even pray. Believing in God does not mean that your salvation is a done deal either.
In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” A loving, personal and intimate relationship with Jesus is essential in order to ensure your place in heaven, with God, for eternity.
Don’t let anyone fool you. Being a “good” person, isn’t good enough. Neither is any belief system which tells you that anything, or anyone, besides Jesus, is sufficient for the purpose of being “saved.” It has to be Jesus. But that’s a GOOD thing!
Jesus’ character and personality are characterized by love, peace, joy, goodness, kindness, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. He loves us so much that He died on the Cross in order that all of our sins would be forgiven. By His death, He bequeathed to His believers, prosperity – in our finances, our relationships, our health, and so much more. He’s the most awesome friend you could ever hope to have!
His love for us is completely unconditional, and He so much wants us to accept that love and return it to Him from our hearts, so that we can join Him in Heaven with our Father God, when our time comes. In John 17:24-26, Jesus prayed, “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
A simple prayer can set this in motion – for example: “Jesus, if You’re real, please let me know You.” Or something like this, if you believe Jesus lives: “Jesus, thank You for shedding Your blood and dying on the cross in order that we might live and our sins be forgiven. I believe You are the Son of God, and I want You to be my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart and into my life…” Any prayer your heart leads you to say will be fine, as long as you are sincerely asking for a relationship with Jesus!
That’s all it takes to start you on the most important journey of your life – a precious relationship with Jesus and the assurance of eternal life with God in Heaven! For Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
God bless you all and may you all be assured of your salvation!
