“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!” I used to recite that cute little ditty when I was a young child. It was supposed to keep me safe from any verbal assaults I might experience at the hands of other children. It didn’t always help, but it was a useful parenting tool! Abraham Lincoln once said, “It’s better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.” Amusing yes, but I believe he was very serious when he said it. Continue reading “A Word To The Wise”
I saw a Christian program last night and a young pastor was sharing a section of a book that he had written. The section he shared was about the millions and billions of stars, planets, galaxies and the inconceivable vastness of even just the visible universe. He showed some pictures depicting our galaxy and I was in awe! He used all of that beauty to make a point that, no matter how painful or annoying our problems are, they are tiny in the grand scheme of things. Continue reading “Insignificant – Never!!”

Salvation, or, being “saved” does not happen simply because you go to church, or read the Bible, or even pray. Believing in God does not mean that your salvation is a done deal either.
In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” A loving, personal and intimate relationship with Jesus is essential in order to ensure your place in heaven, with God, for eternity. In my last blog post, I mentioned election madness and suggested that the only way we can expect sanity in our government is to allow God’s government to permeate ours. I truly believe that – but what does that really mean and how can “I” possibly do that? Most of us believe that anything labelled “supernatural” is some kind of spooky fiction; good or bad. But prayer is simply a supernatural request for some kind of supernatural answer. One of the main elements of prayer is faith – calling forth something unseen, as though it already exists. The following poem is from my book, GOD IS NOT A STUFFED SHIRT.
As I was reading my book this morning, (yes, I read my own poems!), this particular poem struck me as one I would like to share as one of my blog postings today. I hope you enjoy it! Continue reading “A RIDE ON THE PRISM OF YOUR TEARS”

QUOTE, BY JOYCE MEYER: “Don’t spend your life trying to please God so that He will love you or bless you more. God is love. He loves you unconditionally before you ever pay any attention to Him at all.”
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience… Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity.” – Colossians 3:12-14
At least 650 years before Christ was born, Isaiah the prophet wrote a detailed account of Jesus’ time on earth:
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Continue reading “ANCIENT PROPHESY”
I’ve written a few pieces on beauty and our misconceptions about it. I do this now and then because in our society, much emphasis is placed on how a person should look, and it almost always uses “perfect” women as an example – perfect shiny hair with no split ends, perfect symmetrical features, flawless skin, perfect white teeth, and don’t forget the perfect figure, and the perfect clothes! I’m generalizing and exaggerating, of course, but I’m not too far off the mark. Continue reading “SPIRITUAL BEAUTY”
“No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:13-15.
“If I am condemned, why then do I labor in vain? If I wash myself with snow water, and cleanse my hands with soap, yet You will plunge me into the pit, and my own clothes will abhor me. “For He is not a man, as I am, that I may answer Him, and that we should go to court together. Nor is there any mediator between us, who may lay his hand on us both.” Job 9:29-35. Continue reading “Why Christ, Our Mediator, Had To Become A Man!”
