Often in our lives we feel fearful about many things; public speaking, job loss, financial difficulties, death, loss of a relationship, illness, and I could go on and on.
I find myself sometimes experiencing panic attacks and anxiety – usually not even having a reason for either one. I’ve learned to take deep breaths and “speak away” the feelings, and most of all, I’ve learned to pray and to turn to God’s Word for my comfort.
Sometimes just remembering that God loves me and that with His presence in my life, I don’t need to be afraid of anything, makes my heart calm down so that I can relax into God’s loving Spirit.
Remember that God’s Spirit is characterized by LOVE, PEACE, JOY, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, KINDNESS, GENTLENESS, FAITHFULNESS and SELF CONTROL. It’s my desire to express all nine of those attributes through my living.
There’s a simple but profound scripture I’ve come across recently, that reminds me that we are God’s children and He is a loving Father Who gives us wonderful gifts. Here it is:
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” -2 Timothy 1:7
God created us with great and awesome spirits – gifts to His beloved children – us!
